Montana Integrative Oncology was created so patients across the state don't have to travel out of Montana, or out of the conventional medical system, to receive thoughtful, evidence-informed supportive care. We don't replace your oncologist — we work alongside them.

Every plan is built around your specific diagnosis, your current treatment, and what matters most to you — reviewed against the medical evidence and coordinated with your existing care team so nothing works at cross-purposes.

Most physicians in integrative and wellness medicine come from primary or functional care. Dr. Aschtgen comes from oncology — and that difference shapes everything about how this practice works.

For more than two decades he has cared for patients navigating one of the highest-stakes situations medicine presents. In 2008 he founded Seattle Integrative Oncology, which grew into the region's premier naturopathic oncology practice. He has trained the next generation of naturopathic oncologists and spoken at leading cancer institutions. Montana Integrative Oncology brings that depth of experience home to Montana patients.

Integrative oncology combines conventional cancer treatment with evidence-informed supportive therapies — nutrition, naturopathic medicine, side-effect management, and lifestyle care. The aim is to support the whole person while their oncology team treats the cancer.

No. We work with your medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, not in place of them. Conventional treatment remains the foundation of your cancer care; our role is to support you through it and coordinate with your existing team.

Yes. We offer secure telehealth visits to patients throughout Montana, so you can access coordinated supportive care without long-distance travel during treatment.

Your first visit is a thorough conversation about your diagnosis, current treatment, history, and goals. From there we build a coordinated, prioritized plan and, with your permission, communicate with your oncology team.

Montana recognizes naturopathic physicians as covered providers, so many plans reimburse naturopathic care — though coverage varies by plan and some exclude it. We provide detailed superbills for reimbursement, accept HSA/FSA payments, and will help you verify your specific benefits before your first visit. Every recommendation is screened against your current medications and treatment for potential interactions, and coordinated with your oncology team. Safety and non-interference with conventional care come first.
