Evidence-informed naturopathic oncology that works in concert with your medical, surgical, and radiation oncology team — supporting your strength, comfort, and quality of life at every stage.
Whole-person cancer care, across Montana.
Your oncology team treats the cancer. Our work is to care for you while they do — managing side effects, sustaining nutrition and energy, easing the emotional toll, and helping your body do its best work during chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and immunotherapy.
Montana Integrative Oncology was created so patients across the state don't have to travel out of Montana, or out of the conventional medical system, to receive thoughtful, evidence-informed supportive care. We don't replace your oncologist — we work alongside them.
Every plan is built around your specific diagnosis, your current treatment, and what matters most to you — reviewed against the medical evidence and coordinated with your existing care team so nothing works at cross-purposes.
The goal is simple: help you move through treatment with more strength and fewer setbacks, and carry that foundation into survivorship.
We coordinate directly with your oncology team and screen for interactions, so supportive therapies complement — never compromise — your conventional treatment.
Recommendations are grounded in the clinical literature and decades of oncology experience — not trends, and not one-size-fits-all protocols.
Physical, nutritional, and emotional health are managed together, because how you feel through treatment shapes how well you get through it.
A comprehensive review of your diagnosis and treatment plan, with a coordinated strategy to support you before, during, and after conventional therapy.
Physician-level naturopathic care addressing the whole picture of your health, calibrated to your treatment and reviewed for safety and interactions.
Targeted strategies to help manage fatigue, nausea, neuropathy, and other common effects of chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy.
Personalized nutritional guidance to help maintain strength, weight, and resilience through the demands of active treatment and recovery.
A longitudinal plan for life after treatment — rebuilding health, monitoring, and addressing long-term risk with intention.
Secure virtual visits for patients anywhere in Montana, so distance is never a barrier to coordinated, expert supportive care.
Your care is led directly by Dr. Aschtgen. Around that relationship sits a collaborative network of trusted Montana providers and your own oncology team, so the right support is available at the right moment — without fragmenting your care.
We coordinate with your medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists so every recommendation fits your conventional treatment plan.
A vetted referral network of acupuncturists, oncology-trained massage therapists, counselors, and movement specialists across the state.
Dedicated nutritional and lifestyle support woven into your plan, coordinated rather than bolted on.
Most physicians in integrative and wellness medicine come from primary or functional care. Dr. Aschtgen comes from oncology — and that difference shapes everything about how this practice works.
For more than two decades he has cared for patients navigating one of the highest-stakes situations medicine presents. In 2008 he founded Seattle Integrative Oncology, which grew into the region's premier naturopathic oncology practice. He has trained the next generation of naturopathic oncologists and spoken at leading cancer institutions. Montana Integrative Oncology brings that depth of experience home to Montana patients.
We welcome referrals from oncologists, primary care physicians, and allied providers across Montana. Our role is to extend — never to interrupt — the work of your treatment plan, with clear communication back to you.
Discuss a Referral RelationshipIntegrative oncology combines conventional cancer treatment with evidence-informed supportive therapies — nutrition, naturopathic medicine, side-effect management, and lifestyle care. The aim is to support the whole person while their oncology team treats the cancer.
No. We work with your medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, not in place of them. Conventional treatment remains the foundation of your cancer care; our role is to support you through it and coordinate with your existing team.
Yes. We offer secure telehealth visits to patients throughout Montana, so you can access coordinated supportive care without long-distance travel during treatment.
Your first visit is a thorough conversation about your diagnosis, current treatment, history, and goals. From there we build a coordinated, prioritized plan and, with your permission, communicate with your oncology team.
Montana recognizes naturopathic physicians as covered providers, so many plans reimburse naturopathic care — though coverage varies by plan and some exclude it. We provide detailed superbills for reimbursement, accept HSA/FSA payments, and will help you verify your specific benefits before your first visit. Please note that Medicare does not cover naturopathic services. [Once credentialed, list your in-network plans here.]
Every recommendation is screened against your current medications and treatment for potential interactions, and coordinated with your oncology team. Safety and non-interference with conventional care come first.
